Leave it better than we found it.
That’s the promise behind ForeverLawn Kansas City — engineered turf, installed by a local crew, held to the same standard since day one. Here’s how we got here.
Two brothers, one standard.
Dale and Brian Karmie founded ForeverLawn on a single promise: leave every space better than they found it. Twenty years on, it’s still the test every install has to pass.
Built for the job — not the shelf.
ForeverLawn is the manufacturer. It engineers a different surface for every use — a pet kennel, a playground built to pass safety inspection, a country-club practice green, a school field, a tired back lawn. The product changes; the standard never does.
On the ground in the metro.
ForeverLawn came to Kansas City in 2015. Every install is handled start to finish by a trained local crew — fit to your site and backed by the same people who put it in the ground. That’s how a 15-year warranty holds, and how the work holds up far longer.

Built for Kansas City. Since 2015.
The Kansas City metro made sense for a reason most installers don't lead with: it's hard. Heavy clay soil that doesn't drain. Freeze-thaw cycles. 100-degree summers. Hailstorms. Schools and municipalities that won't sign off on an install that can't pass real-world inspection.
That's exactly what ForeverLawn is built for. Turf that drains straight through, even on heavy clay. Backing tough enough to take freeze-thaw, 100-degree heat, and hail. Seams that stay locked when the ground shifts. In a mild climate, none of that matters. In Kansas City, all of it does.
Since 2015, ForeverLawn Kansas City has put that engineering on the ground across the metro — from De Soto to Lee's Summit, Overland Park to Lawrence, Atchison to Hollister. Locally owned. Locally installed. Locally accountable.
Four things we never compromise on.
Most turf companies compete on price. We compete on quality, accountability, and long-term performance.
The foundation matters more than the turf.
A beautiful turf installation is only as good as what's underneath it. Proper drainage, grading, and base preparation determine how your project performs for years to come. We build the foundation right the first time.
Local team. Local accountability.
The people who install your turf are the same people who answer the phone when you need us. No call centers. No subcontractor runaround. Just a local team that stands behind its work.
We'll tell you when turf isn't the right fit.
Not every property is a good candidate for synthetic turf. If there's a better solution for your project, we'll tell you. We'd rather earn your trust than make the wrong sale.
We stand behind every installation.
Every ForeverLawn product we install is backed by manufacturer warranties and certified installation standards. When we put our name on a project, we're prepared to stand behind it.
Real projects, across the metro.
A sample of work FLKC has installed across Kansas, Missouri, and adjacent cities. Each project came with its own constraints — clay, slope, access, deadline pressure — and got an install spec'd to it.

Why ForeverLawn outperforms the photo.
A turf installation looks like a finished surface. It performs because of what's woven, knitted, and laminated underneath it.
Every blade is locked into a multi-layer foundation: a polyurethane scrape coat, a frothed urethane padding layer, and a recycled-bottle geotextile laminate — all engineered to drain instantly, resist mold, and accept proprietary micromechanical seaming.
The ForeverLawn three-layer backing systemK9Grass® — what makes the dog turf actually different
Knitted Flow-Through Backing™. Patented knitted backing that drains edge-to-edge at over 1,000 gpm on third-party tests. Standard "perforated hole" pet turf drains at roughly 30 gpm and clogs over time.
AlphaSan® antimicrobial — in the blade, not coated on. Pet-safe silver-ion antimicrobial manufactured directly into the polymer. Doesn't wash off or wear away — lasts the lifetime of the turf and inhibits the bacteria responsible for odor.
Six tiers, real differences: Eco (30% recycled thatch), Lite (residential), Classic+ (proven since 2005), Sport (athletic-grade), Endura (soft narrow nylon), Elite (multi-color blade, light-damage-resistant polymer).
PlaygroundGrass® — the safety system, certifications & variants
SafetyFoam Pro underlayment. Closed-cell foam pad. Combined with the turf, certified up to 13' critical fall height.
X-Static® built into the fiber. Anti-static technology engineered into the material — does not wear away. Critical because static discharge from typical play surfaces can damage hearing aids and cochlear implants. Combined with built-in Microban antimicrobial.
Four variants: Extreme, Ultra (PE + nylon thatch with AlphaSan + X-Static), Discovery (indoor, no infill), Academy (taller blades, hide-and-hold infill retention). 15-year warranty.
LandScapes®, SportsGrass® & SplashGrass® — engineered for site & use
LandScapes: Select series for moderate-to-high traffic. Fusion series — all-nylon, engineered to withstand reflective heat from Low-E windows that can scorch standard turf.
SportsGrass: Built-in shock attenuation, enhanced traction, leg-fatigue padding. Multiple system types depending on use. Fields tested to FIFA standards.
SplashGrass: Same Flow-Through Backing™ as K9Grass — instantaneous drainage around pools and splash pads. No infill: nothing to displace into pools or onto guests.
The backing system & independent testing — under every ForeverLawn product
BioCel® renewable polyurethane. The scrape coat in ForeverLawn's backing is built with BioCel — derived from soybean plants (a 100% renewable resource).
Project Yellowstone geotextile. The third backing layer is a 100% post-consumer recycled nonwoven laminate — made from used water bottles. Inhibits mold and mildew, and is what makes ForeverLawn's proprietary micromechanical seaming possible (no glue, no flapping seams).
Independent third-party testing. Tested by the EPA, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Connecticut Dept. of Health, Massachusetts Bureau of Environmental Health, New Jersey DEP, Penn State, and toxicologist Dr. Laura C. Green. The 2008 CPSC staff statement: "OK to install, OK to play on."
Why you can't buy this turf at a hardware store.
ForeverLawn is installed-only — every product, every variant. The reason has nothing to do with exclusivity and everything to do with what makes synthetic turf actually last.
The proprietary micromechanical seaming that holds K9Grass edges together can't be replicated with pressure tape from a kit. The multi-layer backing system requires base prep most homeowners don't have the equipment for. The patented Knitted Flow-Through Backing™ drains at over 1,000 gallons per minute — but only if the geotextile under it was graded correctly first.
And the 15-year warranty — the real reason a school district or a vet clinic chooses ForeverLawn — requires ForeverLawn-certified installation. A hardware-store kit voids it before the seams set.
If you want a small DIY patch for a temporary fix in your yard, budget turf at a big-box store is a legitimate option. It's just a fundamentally different product than what we put in for schools, vet clinics, municipalities, and homeowners building to last fifteen-plus years.

The crew that actually does it.
Most of what you see on this site is photographed at projects we built ourselves, with our own crew. That's the point of being local — when something needs to be made right, you're calling the same team that put the turf in the ground.
